UPDATE: The ColoradoREIA now meets on the THIRD WEDNESDAY of each month at the PPA Event Center.
Growing up in the real estate business I was able to learn a lot being raised by my Mom, Dwan Bent-Twyford. It all started out with her carrying me on her hip, as an infant, going door-knocking to families in foreclosure. A great start of what’s to come! From there, it grew into so much more! I was with her for the entire ride; whether it was prying boards off vacant houses, going to closings, helping her paint, whatever it was, I was there. I absolutely loved growing-up and working in the business!
Fast forward to the adult me. I wanted to experience life in a different light and get a feel of what it was like to work for someone else. I quickly applied for the Disney College Program and was accepted after my interview. I moved to California soon after and was part of this awesome working internship! Honestly, I’m a Disney fanatic so I had an absolute blast working for the company. When the program was over and it was time to go back home, I felt sad and wanted to have yet another experience.
This is where I applied to work for MGM Resorts in Las Vegas. I landed a job at the reservations office and off I went onto what I thought would be another fun adventure but, that it was not! For a little while I enjoyed being in a new atmosphere, but soon enough, I started to feel trapped. I was confined to a cubicle, taking inbound calls for at least 8 hours a day and most of the time I would end up working overtime. I was slowly starting to feel like my talents were dwindling and not being used where I could thrive.
It was in Vegas where I realized, I already had all the knowledge to be my own boss and I love real estate. I had experienced what I wanted and it was time to go back to my true love.
Once back in Colorado, my family and I began working vigorously on so many projects, including rehabbing homes in the mountains! Talk about getting a work-out! Not only was I constantly carrying and loading boards, I was using every tool in the book. You name it, I’ve used it. I pay such close attention to detail, now more than ever, and I have learned to progress my trade and do a lot of custom work. It has been the best adventure, so far!
Now, we bring you the Colorado REIA! Designed to help you learn and gain the knowledge we have! After all, there can never be too many millionaires in the world! Don’t let time pass you by. One day you will stop to realize you never really got to be what you wanted to be. I’m so happy that I became aware of not living my dream in my early 20’s and made the change! I have never looked back and I never will. It’s all about the future, the opportunities, and the passion.
When I was young, I always looked up to my Dad, Bill Twyford. Every parent is a superhero in their kids’ eyes, but he really was and has accomplished more than half the investors in Colorado…haha.
Once I was old enough to swing a hammer, we started to work on an addition for our home. I worked for years at six bucks an hour. With the mass hours of creating some of the coolest things most people haven’t seen in person, I knew I was destined for real estate. You name it, we were doing it. I knew at the age of 11 that I was hooked. I wanted to be one of those kids that’s different from the others. There’s something about being creative and building stuff to a higher standard than most investors hold themselves to. Being able to build and see the direct results of what I can do sparked my interest, besides just trying to build race bikes with the six bucks an hour…haha!
Once I graduated high school, I enrolled in an 18-month automotive course, being that I always had a love for anything mechanical. Although I quickly realized how burnt-out on this lifestyle I was becoming. I wanted to only work on high performance and creative fabrications. I decided during the courses that I wanted to only do this as a hobby. I wanted a life of freedom and flexibility. I knew that I wanted to have real estate to fund my love for cars. I’ve come to realize that real estate and working on cars are close to the same. A lot of the houses we buy are neglected and from people in trouble and we rebuild them. Every step is just like building a car. Every piece and phase has its own fun and complications.
At this point in my life I have a lovely wife, Jessica Twyford, who travels with us a lot and is on her way into the motivational speaking arena. With a Major in Communication and a Minor in Broadcasting/Journalism she is the perfect fit for our speaking family.
My wife and I have two beautiful girls Aria and Adaline. Everyone wants to be accomplished before they have kids, but to tell you the truth, they motivate me every day to be the best version of myself. Jess gives me more drive and I’ve never done better or had more opportunity than after having my little girls, the ultimate motivator!
I’ve spoken on tons of stages and at 24 years old I feel like I have taught more people, trained more students, motivated more lives, traveled a lot, worked my butt off, built more houses, and closed more deals than most people in their 40’s. All due to a little bit of exposure and a lot of work ethic. Pops and I are a couple of hawks out in the field…we spot everything.
I’ve stood at over 2,250 doors with homeowners. All of us at Colorado REIA have our own little way of teaching and you will learn different points from each of us. I love to teach people all of the things I have learned and experienced and our family will teach you and take you exactly where you’d like to be in life. Focus on that most important aspect of your life and let it drive you.
There is no time-limit to being in this business. You have to go out and seize the opportunity! We are in business to help you. Join us on this journey, let us teach you what we have experienced firsthand.
Colorado REIA is built for you, about you, and geared to make you successful. We are going to take serious pride in turning you hundreds and thousands of real estate investors into sharks in any market.
Bill Twyford, The Real Estate Rock Star, is one of the most sought-after speakers in America. He is well-versed in many topics, and has spoken at hundreds of Real Estate/Investing groups. He is one of the most successful investors in America and he contributes his success to his strong communication skills.
At the age of 24, he started his own business in Houston, Texas, painting water towers, silos, and radio towers. In the midst of starting large job at Arco Chemical, he was required to take a respirator test. This test requires you to breathe into a hose to see what your lung capacity is. He failed the test miserably. He was told to get checked-out at a pulmonary doctor. That doctor warned him that if he wanted to live to be forty, he needed to quit painting immediately and move to a higher altitude to clean out his lungs. Therefore, he packed-up his family and moved from Texas to Colorado.
Once located in Colorado, he had no idea of what to do next! Having been successful in the painting business, retirement was a thought. However, two months later, he was climbing the walls and searching for something…else…to do. By happenstance he wandered into a real estate office and that is where it all began.
This Realtor was sitting at his desk with his feet propped up. Curiously, Bill asked if this is what he did all day long. He informed Bill that he drank coffee, ate donuts, and waited for clients to walk in from newspaper ads. Bill asked him, “How much could you make as a Realtor?” He said he earned $50,000 per year and averaged ten properties per year. Bill being the assertive person that he is figured he could do the same thing, however; he would set a goal to sell one hundred houses and make some REAL MONEY.
His first year as a Realtor, he sold 79 houses. His second year he sold 123! He was really making a name for himself, and loving every minute of it! In August of 1994, being only two weeks in the business, he was introduced to Mike Ferry, and Mike became his mentor.
In 1998, he started working with homeowners in foreclosure. He could see an emerging business with that and also help homeowners at the same time. His first year as an investor, he sold 80 properties. The money had more meaning to him because he was helping distressed homeowners in addition to making money. He was hooked and have been investing since. To date, he has sold well over 1000 properties. Bill has a special talent – he is a workaholic. With that type of a lifestyle it is often a double-edge sword.
In 1999, he went through a divorce and was now a single dad raising two children. The following year he met Dwan at a real estate seminar and they married the following year. Since then they have blended a wonderful family of five, they travel and speak together, and are loving life! Real estate has been very good to both of them. They wish the same for you!
Bill always says, “It’s not illegal to make a lot of money, however; you must be willing to work for it.” There is nothing keeping you from earning a million dollars each and every year. The difference between earning good money and great money is how well you sell. Bill says you need to learn “Assumptive Language Communication Skills.” Learning his communication skills will change your life.
Bill has been taking his communication skills into Corporate America for many years. He specializes in teaching business people “Assumptive Language Communication Skills” that they need to achieve higher success. Bill is a true asset to any corporate meeting and can address many topics including, but not limited to:
In fact, Bill is a perfect person for a keynote speech, a selling machine, as well as a razor-sharp trainer. His ROCK STAR approach to life makes him a speaker to remember. When you implement what he teaches your sales will go through the roof.
He is very excited to be a part of the Colorado REIA! He plans to train every real estate investor in Denver making it a better market than it already is!
I grew up in Ohio in the 70’s in a typical middle-class family: Two kids, white picket fence, dad worked, mom raised kids, and we were living the American Dream. In the late 70’s, car factories were the largest employer in Ohio and paid the best so my parents told me to get married, have kids, and work at a factory and “The Man” would take care of me if I put in my 40 years. So I did just that: Got engaged, worked at a factory, and after just seven weeks at the factory though that if this is all life has to offer…I’m done.
There was no possible way I was going to spend 40 years sweating my butt off, standing on a line, and for what…a paycheck? There was no amount of money worth that miserable existence! I knew there had to be more to life, but I didn’t know what. We are influenced by what we know and who we know. My friends were getting married by the handfuls, working at factories, and didn’t really seem happy. I was tired of the cold, shoveling my car out, and the poor jobs that Ohio offered so I made the very bold decision to move to Florida. I had never even been there, but I knew at least it was warm…lol.
I loaded my car, ended my engagement, and off I went. Everyone said I would be back and gave me 3 months. Boy were they wrong! I got a job, found a week-to-week rental, moved in, and never looked back. In my 20’s I mostly waited tables which to me was better than working in a factory. At least I had fun, got to go to the beach every day, and always made good money. In my late 20’s I got married, had a baby, and was planning to be a stay at home mom. God had other plans.
When my daughter was 8 months old her dad and I parted ways and I was now a single mom with only waiting tables on my resume. I knew two things: I didn’t want to go back to waitressing and I didn’t want to raise my daughter using the daycare system. I decided to work for myself. My new problem is that I didn’t know how to do anything!
As fate would have it, I met a couple of guys who were buying and rehabbing foreclosures. After several lunches with them I decided this was for me. I was going to find a foreclosure, fix it up, and sell it for a profit. I had absolutely NO idea what I was doing and possessed NO rehabbing skills, but I had determination!
Long story short, I became very successful and started a REIA in Florida called the Florida REIA. When I met Bill and we got married we decided to raise our children in Colorado. Initially, I flew back and forth to try to keep the REIA going and eventually gave it to my business partner. Deep down, I always wanted another one as it was one of the great times in my life. I loved everything about it: Teaching, doing deals, meeting so many great people, the newsletter, the bus trips, the workshops, and so on.
I am thrilled to be a part of the Colorado REIA! We are going to run this REIA like a well-oiled ship: Sessions on how to handle money, teaching you what your team members need to do for you, how to find and make money on deals, run amazing workshops, offer some terrific bus-trips, and so much more.
Our REIA will be second to none. Being a national speaker I see how the REIA’s across America are run and we have taken every good quality, added our own secret sauce, and rolled it into…
As a teenager growing up in the sixties, I was wide-eyed and ready to take on the World. I was the most average guy in high school on a sports team and smack daub in the middle of my class scholastically, I knew that I was not average and that there was something inside that was more; something extraordinary. I decided to join the United States Marine Corps and I wound up on the other side of the world completing things that I never dreamed that I could accomplish.
It wasn’t long after that I found myself married, with two beautiful kids, and a very average job. Talk about reverting back. I spent a lot of years working for some of the largest companies in the country, and making about $40,000 per year… pretty average, right? One day, at the age of 50 I read an article that said people that worked for large corporations and retired at 50 lived an average of 25 more years. The article said that people that retired at 60 to 65 lived and average of 18 months. Talk about sucking the life out of you in your last 10 years!
At the age of 50, I decided to quit my corporate job and open up my own real estate business. After meeting both Dwan and Bill, I knew being average was no longer what I desired… I was ready for extraordinary. Dwan showed me how to work with banks and buy and sell foreclosed properties. Bill showed me that being extraordinary included how to talk to people and make them want to be extraordinary, too. Not only did I start talking to banks and closing foreclosure deals, I also started to buy houses and rehab them for profits.
In one of the great classes that Bill and Dwan teach, a friend of Bill and Dwan’s was speaking, Loral Langemeier. She made a comment that if you wanted to be a millionaire you needed to find one and hang out with them and learn everything that you could from them. So I chose Bill and Dwan! At first I think that they may have considered getting a restraining order…lol…then soon we were good friends and the rest is history. I have worked with both Bill and Dwan in real estate workshops in cities across the county, including an advanced NLP workshop with Bill in the Bahamas. What a great opportunity to be extraordinary!
My goal was simply to double my income and before I knew it, I had tripled my income! If you have the slightest notion that you desire to be extraordinary… the best time to start is Right Now! We have found the right formula, and it is easier than most people think!
That is why I am so humbled and excited to be a part of the Colorado REIA. We have put our heads together and have come up with a recipe for success – YOURS!
